Divide the participants into maximum 6 people in each group:

• One person is a midwife and one person is the assistant
• One person is a labouring woman and one person is support person
• The rest are observants

The labouring woman comes into the clinic with contractions. Do a role-play about birth and Active Management of Third Stage Labour with focus on respectful care.

After the role-play, ask the participants to discuss how they felt being in their role.

Discuss:

• What went well?
• What could be better?
• What did I learn?

End the exercise by doing the role-play again.
